Figure 1. Peripheral smear from a 3 month old infant with DiGeorge's syndrome who presented with CMV associated respiratory distress is shown. A large granulated lymphocyte (LGL) with multiple azurophilic granules is shown. Essentially all the peripheral T cells present were CD2, CD16, and CD56 positive, consistent with an NK immunophenotype.
