Figure 1. Peripheral smear from a 49 year old male with a history of HIV who was complaining of fever and shortness of breath. His WBC on admission was 7.6k/uL with 60% PMNs, 30% lymphocytes, 2% monocytes, 5% metamyelocytes and 3% myelocytes. Cytoplasmic inclusions (arrows) can be seen in the PMN, band and dysplastic PMN present in this image.
