Figure 1. A low-power view of a lymph node from a patient with systemic mastocytosis is shown. Residual follicular structures can be identifies. The interfollicular space has multiple pale appearing areas composed of intermediate sized cells with abundant cytoplasm. Vascular structures are prominent in these regions. No definitive areas of fibrosis are evident.

Figure 2. In this image, the border of the pale staining mast cell infiltration is surrounded by eosinophils and lymphocytes. Vascular elements are present within the infiltrate.

Figure 4. The same image at higher magnification is shown. Note the mast cells appear bland with abundant cytoplasm and have round to irregular nuclear borders. Eosinophils and lymphocytes can also be seen at the border of the infiltrate.
