Mixed cellularity Hodgkin lymphoma

A low-power view of a lymph node biopsy from a 28-year-old female who presented with a history of intermittent febrile episodes and generalized lymphadenopathy is shown. Normal nodal architecture is effaced by an expansion of the interfollicular area. There is a semblance of a nodular pattern to this expansion without evidence of fibrosis. Large number of lacunar-like cells are noted.

The lacunar-like Reed-Sternberg cells noted at low power show extensive cytoplasmic and nuclear variation with mononuclear, classic bi-nuclear, and polynuclear forms present. There is a background of benign-appearing lymphocytes, scattered eosinophils, and an expansion of the vascular network.
