Figure 1. Ascitic fluid from a patient with plasma cell leukemia is shown. In addition to abundant macroahges, there are numerous large cells with deeply basophilic cytoplasm, eccentric nuclei and perinuclear hofs. Normal appearing lymphocytes are also evident.
